Mechanical Copyright and Mechanical License

Granting a mechanical license.

In the music industry, granting a mechanical license gives the person obtaining a license permission to create copies of a song which they did not write and/or do not own.

This allows the holder to reproduce the composition, for example to duplicate CD’s or duplicate DVD’s of a film which contains music. Usually, in exchange for granting the license, the music company will seek a small payment for every copy of the music that is produced. The area of mechanical licensing can be quite complicated, and we have simplified it here.

Cinephonix has also simplified this area in how it grants it’s mechanical license. Essentially, you don’t need to worry about it! We grant you the license which is included in the one off fee you pay when you purchase our music. So you don’t need to worry about making payments every time you reproduce a copy of your film or video!
