Jamie Ruben

Jamie's style as a composer is defined by a balance of his search for unique textures, sounds and approaches with a wide pallet of musical vocabulary and understanding of music and genres. His influences range from Phillip Glass to Coldplay and Alicia Keys. Despite his bold adventurousness as a musician and composer, Jamie approaches media composition selflessly, focused on what is needed to support a piece and enhance a story. He augments his creative musical passion with professionalism and diligence towards his clients' goals and visions.

Following his formal studies in the Humber College Jazz program, from 1999 - 2002, opportunities arose for Jamie's instrumental trio to work abroad. An invitation to perform and tour in Europe was followed by a gig in Asia that led to Jamie performing full time in the Far East for 7 years. In this time, he did approximately 1500 gigs performing everything from his own pieces to traditional Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Rock and R&B

After returning to Toronto in 2010, Jamie released an album of his Eclectic Instrumental Compositions that reached number 2 on the National Indy Radio Jazz Charts. This led to opportunities to perform in festivals, concerts and private events across Ontario as well as headlining a 100 date corporate music tour in promotion of the McCafé brand.

In 2011, while continuing to work as a guitarist, Jamie decided to being writing and production music to picture for film and his first job came along in the spring of 2012 to score a small independent documentary. Since then, Jamie has gone to score two feature films and has had several of his tracks licensed and aird on Vice HBO. He's also been commissioned for customer projects and had produced music for several corporate videos and ads.

Overall, Jamie is a diversely experienced, creative and progressive composer who is intuitive in the art and craft of incorporating the vision of others to enhance story, message and emotion.
