Mikael has a passion for composing choral and orchestral music and has produced over 100 soundtrack albums for fellow composers, including Let the Right One In (Johan Söderqvist), Merlin (Rob Lane), Centurion (Ilan Eshkeri), The Descent: Part 2 (David Julyan) and I Capture the Castle (Dario Marianelli).
Mikael started his music career as a music journalist but launched his own company in 2005 to focus on composing music for film, producing score albums, music journalism and concert consultancy.
Among his credits are the theme and score music for reality series Top Model Scandinavia and the film Carl-Jans Änglar (Carl Jan's Angels). He has also scored a number of shorts, including Steve Ericsson's Vilse.
He is currently working on his album Rainbow Suite: The Choral Music of Mikael Carlsson as performed by Haga Motettkör of Gothenburg, Sweden.
