Happy New Year! For the first blog of the year we’ll be looking at some of the best upcoming films in 2017. Although many people will look back on 2016 as being a year of celebrity deaths and controversial political movements, it cannot be argued that it was a great year for film. 10 Cloverfield Lane, Deadpool, Suicide Squad and Room were all huge films and 2017 looks like it isn’t going to disappoint either. Here are five highly anticipated films coming out this year.
La La Land
In January 2017, Whiplash director Damien Chazelle returns with La La Land, a romantic musical comedy-drama film. Starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, this film has been praised by critics and has introduced musicals to a whole new audience who would not normally watch them.
Spider-man: Homecoming
The first of the revamped spider-man films is coming in July and the trailer has Marvel fans drooling at the mouth. The film follows on from the events of Captain America Civil War, where British actor Tom Holland made his first appearance as Spider-Man. Marvel have been dominating the box office lately so we can expect to be hearing a lot about this film in the upcoming months.
Blade Runner 2049
Coming this October we have the sequel of Blade Runner, released 30 years after its predecessor. Ridley Scott, director of the first film, becomes the producer here and it will be starring Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling and Jared Leto. As a sequel of one of the greatest science fiction films, it has a lot to live up to, but people are really hyped for this one.
Justice League
In November we will see DCs answer to Marvel’s Avengers, Justice League, directed by Zack Snyder. Following on from Batman VS Superman, also directed by Snyder, Justice League will see DC heroes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and more come together to stand up to a newly awakened threat.
